| Horse Description |
|
"Harry" is a 9 year old Quarter Horse Gelding who loves
to jump and trail ride. I am a true beginner and have
had him for a couple of years learning my basic
dressage and jumping skills on him. He had a
successfull western pleasure career when he was
younger, and he still remembers all of his western
pleasure basics, so he would be great for someone
wanting an experienced western pleasure mount that
just needs to be tuned up. He was then retrained as a
hunter/jumper and has done some eventing. He was
shown successfully on the North Texas Hunter Jumper
circuit, and also at local hunter and Dressage shows,
and is always in the ribbons. He is good with children
and adults, and is calm enough for beginners but would
also make a fun mount for more advanced riders. He is
not spooky and loves trail riding and is perfectly
comfortable around cows, dogs, and other animals, and
in a crowd or by himself. He has great bascule over
fences and always snaps his knees evenly. He is very
bold and willing to jumps and never refuses. He knows
basic dressage, and always gets his leads, and gets his
flying leads when asked (most of the time they're
automatic, but sometimes you have to ask). He stands
perfectly still for the ferrier, loads like a dream, clips,
bathes, etc..., and has perfect ground manners. He's
been a great teacher to me and I LOVE EVERY INCH OF
HIM!, which is why I want him to go to a great home
only. He has LOVELY jumping style, is very responsive,
and has the SWEETEST personality! I paid 7500 for him
and he has been worth every penny, but I have reduced
his price for quick sale. He requires a little maintenance
with his front left foot because he has some navicular.
He gets an injection once or twice a year (about $150)
and he is perfectly sound, it doesn't slow him down at
all. His low price is not at all related to his foot. He still
jumps anything and everything, and events. The vet has
checked him out and said that with little maintenance he
will have a normal career. It's really worth it, especially
if you're on a budget trying to find a bombproof horse
who knows his job as well as he does and has as much
talent as he does. If I had more time, this horse would
be priced at what I paid for him or more, but I'm trying
to get out of the horse business by the time school
starts in August. He does crib with his chin, not with his
teeth (so his teeth are healthy), and it's mostly only if
he is put in a paddock by himself or a stall...he gets
bored.
