| Horse Description |
|
"Maya" is a gorgeous, unique
colored Buckskin, and an
overall smart, kind mare. She
is a BLM Mustang with BLM
title papers and an up-to-date
folder of all records. She is
a 4 year old who spent 3 years
of her life in the wild.
Standing at over 15 hands tall
she has amazing conformation
with a broad chest, strong
loin, and sturdy straight
legs. She is a very
eye-appealing efficient mover
with a smooth jog.
This horse is an exceptionally
easy keeper, has never been
seriously ill or injured, and
has strong hooves that do not
need to be trimmed often and
have never needed shoes. She
is good for vets, farriers,
and strangers alike, and is
up-to-date on all worming and
vaccinations.
She has been trained with
several types of natural
horsemanship, including
methods used by Pat Parelli,
Bill and Tom Dorrance, and
Clinton Anderson. I have
worked with her with
clinicians like Ray Hunt,
Bryan Neubert, and Leslie Desmond.
I adopted her as a wild horse
in March '06 and gentled her
and did an insurmountable
amount of quality groundwork
training. She was started
bareback with a halter for the
first few months, and then
started under saddle with a
snaffle bit.
She is a very confident trail
horse and can be ridden in a
group of other horses, or by
herself; has been ridden
through mountains, roadside
with traffic, with dogs, and
through chest deep rivers and
lakes. She is also very
confident with cows and has
worked cows both one at a time
and working out of a herd; she
knows how to properly stop,
back, and turn to cut a cow
and is freed up and rates cows
well. She has been ridden over
small jumps, and at liberty
has jumped up to 6' high.
All though she is a relaxed
and quiet horse, a handful of
times when she has gotten
scared she bucks. She bucks
hard and every time she has
bucked me off. This makes it
difficult to sell her as a
riding horse to anyone except
someone who knows what they
are getting into and chooses
to take her in as a project horse.
Because Maya takes a lot of
talent to ride, but is such a
nice horse on the ground, I
think that she will make a
great pasture pet or halter
horse for someone who would
like a horse but doesn't want
to ride it. She is very
respectful and quiet on the
ground and loves to be groomed
and pampered.
*Ties
*Trailers
*Hobbles
*No stable vices
*Leads up well
*Walks up to you to be caught,
even in large pastures
*Very easy to halter
*Bathes
She might also do well as
bucking stock, all though she
has never been in the chutes;
I know she has an amazing
buck. To see a video follow

Overall she is a very loyal
horse, who once you gain her
trust will do her best in
anything you ask of her. She
has the potential to be a
great trail horse, cow horse,
or jumper, however if someone
wants to ride her, this horse
is only for very confident and
experienced riders.
I am very sadly selling this
amazing horse because I am not
experienced enough to help her
when she gets scared and bucks
and she has become a dangerous
horse for me to ride.
Price negotiable, several
knowledgeable references
available.
