| Horse Description |
|
In terms of her athleticism, Annie was under saddle with
us for a year and a half. She has a solid dressage
foundation and has been schooled over preliminary level
cross country fences (3 foot 7 inches with difficult
questions). She also has foxhunted and done quite a big
of trails to build up her muscles and keep her bones
strong. She is bold, but cautious of cross country -- good
qualities for a momma to pass on to her babies.
Exceptional mover. Great on trails crosses water and
loves to swim. Catches, loads, cross ties well. Very
willing and sweet. Gets along with mares and geldings
in the pasture. Won't pick a fight, but won't let herself
be beat up on either. Loves a head rub and she is the
girl we visit with children to get used to her on the
ground. I say this to explain what she can pass down to
her babies. Although she is certainly qualified to pursue
eventing, dressage or foxhunting (as well as western
pleasure, etc.), I personally think she has bloodlines,
confirmation and personality that are too good to miss
for breeding. I am not a show home to put the time into
such a career, nor a breeder. That is why she is for sale.
We have given her great farrier and vet care.
Vaccinated and wormed regularly.
She is just under 14.3 and a TB build. Born March
1998. Bay with gorgeous blanket. Really lovely
markings
For riding, I would say an intermediate rider. In full
disclosure, she has a buck in her under saddle -- shows
up every month or two, but it is a big one (she is athletic
like I said). She will be going on sweet and cooperative
as can be, then gets a "mare moment," and bloop there
is an Annie Oakley moment. So despite her size and
temperament, I would never put a newbie on her
myself. I have not tried her walking in the arena
leadline, but that could work -- she has never
misbehaved with us in hand. But, horses are horses, so
I would use your own judgment as you get to know her.
We were told she would be an excellent lesson horse
when we bought her, but I would not recommend that
with the buck she has (that is not what we wanted her
for any way). Have been told she would be great 4H
horse, pony club prospect or h/j prospect. Don't know
much about those disciplines, so don't have my own
opinion.
