| Horse Description |
|
Quest is a 3 1/2 yr old registered Half-Arabian (can be
registered Pintabian breeding stock, I have the
paperwork) gelding. He is bay in color with facial
markings and one white sock. He has the beautiful
Arabain dished face and big sweet eyes. He is UTD on
all shots until July of 2009.
Quest is green broke but needs more time under saddle
with an experienced rider. We have been working under
saddle (english seat mostly) for the last couple months
and he has been doing well. He direct reins and bends
beautifully. He gets bored easily so we've been working
over ground poles to keep his attention, and he really
seems to enjoy it. I think he has great potential in either
western or english seat, he just needs more experience
and someone to show him the ropes. His previous owner
had him in training for 60 days with a trainer, whose info
I can provide if desired.
I am selling Quest because I am moving across the
country and shipping is just outrageously expensive. I
am sad to part with him... he is a sweet horse who
bonds quickly with "his" person. He comes running when
called and walks right up to me in the pasture. He likes
treats and being scratched all over! He is young so he is
unsure of things sometimes, but is very inquisitive and
feels much braver when someone is there to let him
know that scary things are ok. He loves other horses
and I have yet to find one that he doesn't want to play
with! I don't think he's ever been alone, so he probably
would do best in a home with some kind of pasture mate
(equine or non-equine). He has never been aggressive
towards people or other animals, never kicked or bitten
(other than some friendly and playful nips with the other
horses in the pen).
He has a couple habits that we've been working on. He
is touchy about his ears, but has finally started to let me
rub them, although he still doesn't like having the bridle
put over them. I have worked around this by not using a
browband and that works fine. He lets me pick up &
clean his feet easily, but gets nervous and hops around
a bit when the farrier works on him, especially when
we've had lots of people standing around fussing with
him. We just started working on trailering, since he's
only been in a trailer a few times in his life and still
thinks they're scary.
He is currently boarded at Pontchartain Oaks Stable on
Hayne Blvd in New Orleans East. There is a riding arena
onsite to use. I only have an english saddle so if you
want to try him out Western I would have to borrow one
or you can bring your own. If you are interested in
Quest please give me a call or drop me an e-mail:
