Horse Description
We bought Bambi on 01/09/09. She is a half sister to my gelding who is incredible, awesome gaits, smart and big. She will be 3 in May. Unfortunetly, Bambi got hurt on 01/12/09. While bringing my gelding down to put out to pasture with her, about 30 feet from getting him to the pasture gate, she decided she couldn't wait and attempted to jump the fence. Her left arm pit came down on top of a T post which ripped her flesh apart down her left leg about 9 inches and 4 inches wide. We had the vet come out and stitch her up twice. But, where the injury is located the stitches will not hold. So, we are treating her as an open wound which requires hydrotherapy twice a day. I use antibacterial soap and scrub the area and let the water run in the injury at least 5 minutes each time and then spray it with a solution the vet recommended. She is not lame and shows no sign of pain. The vet said that it is a flesh wound and nothing else was injured. It is not expected to leave a scar. The vet said anything above the knee usually heals up without scarring. I will provide all the medical records and the vets phone number.

I have decided that if I can sell her, that would be best. I've invested over $1500 in her and am willing to let her go to a good home for $500/obo. As time passes and her wound heals we will begin working with her and her price will go up. She is very co-dependent on other horses and needs a home that can provide her safety. I thought I would be able to turn her out with my other 2 horses, but am not willing to risk any more injuries. Bambi is registered and bred for Western Pleasure/Halter. She has really nice confirmation, correct feet and legs. She is a really sweet horse and learns quickly. She hasn't been messed with much and needs trailer loading work, ground work, handling, etc. Since we have had her, she is now leading nicely, gets groomed daily, likes and looks forward to her hydrotherapy.

She especially needs desensitizing work. Since I am keeping her away from my other horses, she is pacing in her stall/run. She needs a companion horse in with her and I do not have one I am willing to chance getting hurt. Where I bought her, she was in a pen with her sister and her sister had top picking order. My husband was going to break her and train using the Clinton Anderson method. The vet said in four weeks she could start her ground work and 6 - 8 weeks start under the saddle. It has been 3 weeks since her injury and her wound is healing well.

If you can provide the care she needs to heal - both time wise and safe facilities, I've priced her at just enough to discourage cruel intentions. I don't want her abused or neglected. I want a good home to inquire. Here is a great opportunity to own a nicely bred horse or brood mare for adoption prices.
