Handsome but quirky 15.2 hh chestnut quarter horse gelding, 12 yo. Ridden english and western. Nice smooth, very forward mover at walk/trot. Ring temperament: 3; trail temperament: 5. Had 2 mos. prof. training 2008. Primarily used for lessons and pleasure riding since. Had a few w/t ribbons in past.
Requires confident intermediate or advanced rider. His canter under saddle needs work for english (collection). He also knows barrel pattern so he is versitile.
Bridger has what I call Equine ADHD & always seems to be daydreaming and staring off to the horizon. My hubby speculates he is farsighted; he will not always be attentive to the first 20 or so feet around himself so can "walk all over" the unwary handler or can spook at something that has been there all along and he just never bothered to notice before.
He prefers arena settings to woodland and seems to take comfort from having a fence between himself and the rest of the world. Very low man on totem pole type in horse society. He has been known to dump an unsuspecting rider if kicked up to canter; I have, on the other hand, also seen him well handled by knowing horse people, though.
Will likely need refresher as he is just standing now. He was my first horse but I have since gotten two smaller, quieter ones I ride.
He longes & trailers fine, is sound and utd on all shots, kept shod this past year. Has had regular vet and farrier care, dewormed every 8 wks, and had teeth floated, July 09.
He currently is boarded at Markee Creek Farm in Walnut, PA where you can see him and ride him. He can be purchased or can also be leased on site for lessons but I will also consider off site lease for right person.
Would also make decent companion horse for non riders, as he was always amicable to me from the ground and when I worked around him in the stall, paddock and pasture. Comes right up to you. Never had to chase to halter.
